The F1 Car, 1970-1990

1970 Tyrrell-Cosworth 001. After his 1969 title in the Cosworth-powered Matra Jackie Stewart insisted on using the same engine, but Matra would only build a chassis for their own use. So Ken Tyrrell was forced to build his own chassis and won the title within 18 months:

1978 Ligier-Matra JS9, driven this weekend by Jacque Laffite who brought it to 3rd place in the 1978 Spanish GP:

1982 Lotus Cosworth 91, probably the most beautiful cars of their era in the JPS black and gold livery. Mansell drives this car again for the first time in 20 years:

1985 Lotus Renault 97T, this car gave Ayrton Senna his first victory at the 1985 Portuguese GP. In qualifying trim this engine could produce 1400bhp. Driven this weekend by his nephew Bruno Senna:

1988 McLaren-Honda MP 4/4. The team won 15 out of 16 races that year, with the young Ayrton Senna pipping Alain Prost to the title:
