... and collapsed. If it gets worse than this it could be the damper that limits axle travel, especially with the deeper (rubber bumper 4-cylinder and chrome bumper V8, it seems) pedestals
U-bolts are removed and fitted like this
Old collapsed pedestals, and even new shallow pedestals (chrome bumper 4-cylinder and rubber-bumper V8), may have to be levered to be able to get the threaded part of the U-bolt past the pedestal pad without damaging it.
Not the latest in coffee-table chic, but the assembly ready for fitting to the axle.
