Cover removed harness plug still connected. But in these two pictures what is the yellow wire and where does it go? This looks like the brush pack of the later 2-speed motor which does have three brushes, although the connector plug only has four contacts i.e. one speed. Maybe the single-speed brush pack failed and is no longer available, but the 2-speed fits and the third brush is unused.

The three wipers under the connector. But these two pictures show braided wires to the brush pack. The original brush pack? A different motor?
