Tyre Degredation
Given the poor quality and longevity of so many rubber components these days I had hoped that tyres (and particularly brake hoses) might be immune from quality reduction - but no. My Mercedes A-Class Pirelli Cinturatos all received advisories of 'slight damage/cracking or perishing' at 7 years old and 12k which is something I'd never had with previous and older daily drivers with the same usage and exposure to sun:

Discussing this with Roger Parker his experience with an MG5 at 5 years and less than 4k is even worse and he had to replace all four at the MOT:

However the MG5 is an EV with a kerb weight about 25% higher than the A-Class and a report compiled by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) in 2023 claimed EVs are 40 per cent more likely to fail an MOT on tyre-related issues compared to petrol cars. Not only are EVs heavier than ICE cars they also have 40% more torque (in the above two cases). This offers rapid acceleration from a standstill (which many EV owners seem to enjoy ...) which will cause increased tread wear. With correct inflation that shouldn't cause side-wall splitting but if the driving style extends to higher speeds in corners as well then the greater weight perhaps could.
